Washington County Getting a New Manufacturer


GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Greenville City Council delayed their scheduled meeting yesterday afternoon for the announcement of a new company that’s coming to town. Australian farm chemical and seed company Nufarm Ltd. said Tuesday they’re buying a building from the City of Greenville to house the facility with operations expected to start by summer 2019. NuFarm won’t actually be manufacturing in at its new facility. Mississippi Development Authority spokeswoman Tammy Craft says they’ll instead repackage and ship products sent to Greenville from other facilities. the Melbourne, Australia, based company sells herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and seeds. The $20 million investment is expected to bring 68 jobs to the city when hiring is complete in 2022, with an average pay of $44,314 per year. In exchange for the investment, NuFarm is projected to receive more than $6 million in tax breaks and incentives including $4 million in property tax breaks over 10 years.
