Third Worker Suspended After Child Abuse Death

NATCHEZ, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services said on Thursday that they suspended a third employee after a death in a child abuse case. That brings to three the number of Department employees who have faced disciplinary actions. An Adams County caseworker and a supervisor were suspended last Tuesday. The state failed to remove two toddlers from a Natchez home, one of whom died from injuries suffered in a beating last week. 4-year-old Armani Hill died last week after a beating so severe she could no longer walk, according to Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong. Her 3-year-old sister remains in the hospital in critical condition at last report, with her biological father maintaining a vigil at her bedside. The mother, 25-year-old Lakeisha Marie Jones has been charged with two counts of child deprivation for not reporting the ongoing abuse. Her boyfriend, 24-year-old James Christopher Anderson is charged with two counts of felony child abuse.
