They’re Picking Up Litter, Not Making More Of It

DREW COUNTY, AR (Ben Caxton) — If you see a white Sheriff’s pickup truck parked along the road in Drew County, with a sign out front that says “Sheriff’s Litter Crew Ahead” there’s no cause for alarm. The litter is being picked up. Not thrown out along the road. Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober started the pickups in January, using people assigned community service as part of their court penalties. Since then he estimates more than 150 bags of trash have been collected. But he says there is always more to do, lamenting that in some cases it’s only a short time after they clean up an area, that it’s become an eyesore yet again.
