The pressure’s on for a former Greenville Superintendent

Former Greenville School Superintendent Harvey Franklin has a few weeks left to come up with a 75-thousand dollar payment towards his court-ordered restitution in a bribery case. His attorney tried unsuccessfully to appeal on the grounds that Franklin simply does not have the assets and cannot make the payment. An appeals panel found that he does have the ability to pay and must do so. Franklin is serving 76 months in a federal prison for accepting kickbacks from the owner of a reading program that was sold to the Greenville schools.
