The Greenville Fire Department and Public Works have embarked on a project to check all of the city’s 13-hundred fire hydrants

In addition to being a safety concern, the condition of hydrants also helps determine fire ratings that are used to calculate insurance premiums. It costs about 20 to 50 dollars to fix each one that is not found to be working properly.
