The City of Greenville has hired a pay consultant

The City Council has approved funding of just under 11-thousand dollars for an outside salary survey to be conducted by the John C. Stennis Institute of Government. The project will take a look at the salaries for city employees to see whether they are being paid an appropriate amount that’s comparable with other cities. The vote authorizing the study was 3 to 3, with the dissenters arguing that it’s a waste of money when it’s already known that it will reveal that employees are overworked and underpaid. Mayor John Cox broke the tie in favor of the study.
