Tate Reeves Flush with Campaign Cash

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Second-term Republican Lt. Governor Tate Reeves has the most campaign cash of any candidate running for Mississippi governor. Finance reports filed Wednesday show Reeves with over $5.8 million in his campaign fund at the end of June; the other two candidates in the Republican gubernatorial primary had less than one-tenth of that amount combined. Former Mississippi Supreme Court Chief Justice Bill Waller Jr. of Jackson reported about $373,000 on hand and first-term state Representative Robert Foster of Hernando reported just over $7000. Among Democratic candidates for governor, fourth-term Attorney General Jim Hood of Houston had $1.5 million on hand. The other Democrats reported less than $3000 combined.
