Six Mississippi Counties Getting $11.4 Million from Feds

WASHINGTON, DC (Ben Caxton) — Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, who serves on the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee, says six Mississippi counties will share $11.4 million in U.S. Department of Agriculture grants and loan guarantees. Systems in Clay, Coahoma, Lauderdale, Panola, Perry, and Tishomingo counties will receive USDA Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program funds for water infrastructure upgrades, including new water wells, meters, and related improvements. The Mississippi awards are among 49 projects in 24 states benefitting from increased federal appropriations to address the water and wastewater infrastructure in rural communities.
