Shelby Dollar General Attempted Burglary Fails

SHELBY, MS (Ben Caxton) — Shelby Police responding to a break-in alarm at the local Dollar General ended up trapping one of the would-be burglars inside the store. Chief of Police Kenneth Hampton said they received the alarm a little before midnight Monday night. The first officer on the scene, Kevin Coleman, waited for backup before heading inside where they discovered 57-year-old Terry Tyrone Williams. Entry was gained by driving a truck into the rear door of the store. But the truck was not at the scene, it was later discovered stuck in the mud of a nearby field. So police are now looking for a second burglar, who removed the truck, and apparently fled on foot when it bogged down.
