Rising River Forces Closure Of Warfield Point Park

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Washington County’s popular Warfield Point Park has been closed. Rising water levels on the Mississippi river due to recent heavy rains upstream are expected to put much of the park grounds under water. The Mississippi river at Greenville stood at 45.53 feet as of last night. Flood stage is 48 feet. The National Weather Service expects the river to crest seven feet above flood stage at 55 feet in about two weeks on March 11th or 12th.
