Polls Open Through 7:00 Pm Today in Mississippi

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM today for Mississippians to elect everything from U.S. Senators and Congressman, to state legislators, and local judges. If you plan to vote, take along a driver’s license or another form of government-issued photo ID. If you don’t you’ll be allowed to fill out an affidavit ballot to give you five extra days to stop by and show your ID to the county clerk. The polls will officially close at 7:00 PM, but with high voter turnout for a midterm election expected, some people may still be in line waiting their chance. If that happens, poll workers have been instructed to allow anyone still in line to cast a ballot. Secretary of State Delbert Hoseman said that the number of absentee ballots returned for this election is double that of the last midterms. A total of 50,571 ballots were requested this year compared to 25,395 in 2014.
