Police Investigate Fatal Shooting In Monticello

MONTICELLO, AR (Ben Caxton) — A Monticello man is dead following an early Monday morning shooting in that city. 21-year-old David Clyburn died Monday at 3:34 a.m. at Drew Memorial Hospital following a shooting in the parking lot of Paradise Apartments on U.S. 425 South in Drew County, according to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober. Gober said a person in a vehicle attempting to leave the apartments fired two shots, one of which struck Clyburn after Clyburn allegedly approached the vehicle with a gun in what he called an “aggressive” manner. No arrests have been made at this time. The Sheriff says once their investigation is complete the case file will be sent to 10th Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen who will decide whether charges will be brought.
