Ole Miss Fires Coach Matt Luke After 3 Seasons

OXFORD, MS (Ben Caxton) — Ole Miss has fired football coach Matt Luke the University announced Sunday evening. The move comes just three days after his third non-winning season ended with another controversial loss to Rival Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl Thanksgiving Day. Luke, a former Ole Miss offensive lineman, and assistant coach took over just before preseason started in 2017 when Ole Miss parted ways with coach Hugh Freeze. The Rebels went 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the Southeastern Conference to give Luke a 15-21 record overall during his time as head coach.
