No More Amtrak Buses to New Orleans Needed

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — After a summer of disruptions, Amtrak has restored full service on its Chicago-to-New Orleans line. The opening of the Bonnet Carre spillway near New Orleans cut off service to the city because the tracks are on the flood plain. For nine months riders got off in Jackson and rode busses to New Orleans. Track maintenance in parts of Mississippi also caused disruptions from Memphis to Jackson. To celebrate the restored train service Amtrak is offering buy-one, get-one fares through the end of August.
