No Controversies at Clarksdale Utility Meeting

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Yesterday’s Clarksdale Public Utilities Commission meeting was largely routine, as the board approved an agreement with Coahoma Opportunities to participate in the Low Income Home Energy Assistance program and pay energy bills for qualified low-income households. The board also adopted a resolution correcting the minutes of a meeting one year ago, deleting comments made in executive session between commission secretary George Miller and former General Manager Mark Johnson which did not pertain to actions taken by the board. Johnson and several other CPU executives were later suspended and ultimately terminated.
