Monticello Man Arrested in Fordyce over Child Rape Allegations

MONTICELLO, AR (Ben Caxton) — Monticello Police report that they have arrested a former Monticello resident on charges that he raped a 10-year-old child. The arrest of 49-year-old Charles Hawkins was carried out on Tuesday at the Jefferson Area Technical Career Center in Fordyce. Hawkins was then returned to Monticello where he will face Class “Y” felony charges. According to reports the investigation into the case began last September after a call to a child abuse hotline. The child involved, a relative of Hawkins fianc√©, has accused Hawkins of inappropriate sexual contact at a time when Hawkins was staying in the same residence. At a Thursday hearing before District Judge Bruce Anderson in Monticello Hawkins was given a $50,000 bond.
