Mississippi To Repair Damaged Navy Destroyer

WASHINGTON, DC (Ben Caxton) — A damaged Navy destroyer will be fixed at a Mississippi shipyard. The USS Fitzgerald collided with a container ship June 17th and is currently dry-docked in Japan. It will be repaired at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, one of only two shipyards that build destroyers. The command says it chose Ingalls because only a shipyard that builds destroyers could fix the damage. The Naval Command doesn’t know when the work will start, how long it will take, or how much it will cost.
