Mississippi Students Rank High In School Debt

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Personal-finance website WalletHub has analyzed the states with the most and least Student Debt, and Mississippi ranks number 2 overall and leads the nation in the highest percentage of student debt as a percentage of income. The study compared average student debt, unemployment rate among the population aged 25 to 34, and share of students with past-due loan balances to come up with the rankings. As of the first quarter of 2017, 11 percent of all student loans are delinquent or in default.
