Mississippi Senate panel has confirmed all six members of the state’s first charter school board

The new board includes Krystal Cormack, a teacher in Clarksdale. She will serve on the board that grants authority to open charter schools, which are publically-funded but not subject to the same regulation as other public schools. Only one Senator, Derrick Simmons of Greenville, voted against the confirmations.
