Man Shot by Tunica Police in Valero Incident Identified

TUNICA, MS (Ben Caxton) — While responding to a shooting Sunday morning at Valero in Tunica, a city police officer shot a suspect fleeing from the scene after he brandished a firearm at the officer. The Tunica County Sheriff’s Department says they have identified the man who was driving the car the Tunica Police cruiser encountered as Jimmy Dotson. The Sheriff says he was the driver of the grey Toyota Camry that the suspects can be seen arriving in at the gas station, in surveillance video, and later leaving the scene. Two other suspects involved in the shooting at the gas station, Jernard Black and Martrevious Sanders, were arrested early Tuesday morning in Minnesota.

UPDATE: (as of 1-28-2020)Jernard Black and Martrevious Sanders are in custody in Redwing, MN. The third party, Eric Brandon, Jr., is now in custody at Tunica County Sheriff’s Office.The following video was taken in reference to the shooting incident that occured early Sunday morning, January 26, 2020 at approximately 2:32 AM. The TCSO has obtained the following warrants on the following individuals in reference to this incident. Eric Brandon, Jr – accessory. Jernard Black – armed robbery and attempted murder. Martrevious Sanders – aggravated assault. These subjects are armed and dangerous.
