Man Arrested for Stealing Historic Church Bell

ORWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — A bell stolen from a church on the National Register of Historic Places was recovered on Monday and a 33-year-old man was booked into the Lafayette (la-FAY-ett) County Detention Center. Michael Lippert is charged with grand larceny. The bell was reported missing Sunday from Sand Springs Presbyterian Church in the ghost town of Orwood, about 16 miles southwest of Oxford.
