LEDS Coming Soon to Light Up Vicksburg

VICKSBURG, MS (Ben Caxton) — New lighting is coming to Vicksburg roadways. At a Monday meeting the city’s Board of Mayor and Alderman voted to approve a $29,186 agreement with Entergy to install LED lights on major thoroughfares around the city. Under the plan, 891 streetlights will be replaced with brighter, more energy-efficient LED bulbs over the next six months. The city expects the changes to shave up to $3,000 off its electric bill, which runs just under $60,000 per month. The first area to get the new lights will be North Washington Street north of the Klondyke in about two weeks.
