Last Two Prison Escapees Back in Custody

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — After five days on the run two escapees from a prison near Pearl are back in custody. The Mississippi Department of Corrections says 31-year-old Jonathan Blankenship and 28-year-old Christopher Benson High were captured Wednesday at separate locations in Meridian. The pair went missing last Friday from the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility. Blankenship was serving a five-year sentence on a conviction for aggravated assault on a police officer and conspiracy in Alcorn County. High was sentenced to 12 years for a burglary conviction in Carroll County. Authorities believe the two hid out for a few days over the Independence Day holiday in a camper at the back of a business about five miles away from the prison.
