Inmates to remain on the job in the Delta

Bolivar is among 12 more counties Mississippi corrections officials say will keep state inmates in local work programs without state reimbursement. Counties are allowed to keep the inmates in work programs but the Department of Corrections will not reimburse them for expenses related to housing, education and alcohol and drug treatment. MDOC still will provide and pay for medical care. Over 300 inmates are now in the program.
