Infant Delivered After Shooting Dies

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — The baby delivered 3-months prematurely by a Greenville woman who was shot five times by her boyfriend on Sunday has died. The six-months pregnant 23-year-old was transported to Delta Regional Medical Center and then flown to Jackson for treatment after police found her lying wounded on South 8th street Sunday afternoon. The woman remains alive, in critical condition, but family members confirmed to media reports that the baby died Monday evening. Charges against the suspect in the shooting, 23-year-old Jonathan Driver will likely be upgraded to murder and attempted murder. Driver is recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest after being captured at a New Albany, Mississippi hotel Monday morning.
