In Clarksdale Even Captain America Steals

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Captain America has qualified as a Clarksdale “Pay-the-Perps” candidate. Early Tuesday morning Clarksdale Police responded to the 1500 block of Lee Drive where a homeowner was holding a man in a Captain America costume at gunpoint. After being alerted by his alarm the homeowner left his home armed with a handgun and found 36-year old David Hobbs breaking into his shed. Hobbs was taken into custody and charged with burglary. Police also reported that 19-year-old Lorenzo Robinson, Jr. was arrested last Thursday for auto burglary. Robinson was identified through security camera video and was being held at the Coahoma County jail pending a court appearance. Espy’s “Second Chance” program to pay offender’s to leave Clarksdale had raised $1,025 of it’s $3,000,000 goal as of today – $1,000 of that from Mayor Espy, himself.

  1. Perhaps if Mayor Espy offered the perps a bus ticket to Jackson, they might just take him up on the offer. Not much to steal in Clarksdale, anyway.
