Greenville Organizing Water Help For Vicksburg

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons announced the City of Greenville will be organizing an effort to provide water to Vicksburg where 30,000 residents may be without water for up to a week because of a broken pipe in an area inundated by Mississippi floodwaters. To assist Simmons asks all residents, businesses, churches, and organizations to drop off cases of bottled water at City Hall at 340 Main Street, the fire station at 532 Central Street, or Fire Station No. 8 at 2352 South Main in Greenville. Mitchell Distributing will provide transportation of the water to Vicksburg. Simmons said in a statement that “It is important to love thy neighbor and treat your neighbors as you would want to be treated in a time of need. If folks in Vicksburg will be without water, folks in Greenville will deliver them some water.”
