Greenville 5-Year-Old Critical After Shooting

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — A 5-year-old Greenville boy was in critical condition after a Sunday afternoon shooting. Police were called to the 1400 block of Casavechia Street around 4:45 PM Sunday where they found the child suffering a gunshot wound to the face. The police report indicated the boy’s mother was at home asleep when she heard the gunshot. Another juvenile was in the home as well. Preliminary indications are the boy shot himself in the face accidentally and no charges have been filed, although the investigation continues. He was transported to Delta Regional Medical Center and then flown by Air Ambulance to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson in critical condition.
