Grandfather dies a hero in Shaw

The Reverend Herman Love has drowned during a fishing trip just outside of Shaw. Police say the 63-year-old Shaw resident jumped into the water to save his 13-year-old grandson who had just fallen over the bridge bayou. The boy’s friend jumped in to save him, and then tried to go back for Reverend Love, but he was too heavy for the boy to rescue. Two men who were nearby pulled Love out of the water, but it was too late. The Reverend Herman Love was described as a well-liked leader in the community.
