Former Tallahatchie Sheriff Arrested on Bond Violation

TALLAHATCHIE COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — The former Tallahatchie County Sheriff, who has been out on bond on drug-trafficking and bribery charges, is back in jail after being arrested for a violation of his bond terms over the weekend. The FBI confirmed that 58-year-old William Brewer was back in custody, but they did not reveal which terms of his bond he is accused of having broken. He was originally arrested back in August of this year after authorities launched an investigation when an informant told them he had robbed drug dealers on Brewer’s behalf at least fifty times in the last decade and a half. Brewer turned himself in and resigned his position and was released on bail. If convicted, Brewer faces up to 20 years in prison on each count, along with fines ranging from $250,000 to $1 million per count.
