Five Mississippi Inmate Deaths Reported in One Week

LEAKESVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Five Mississippi prison inmates have died in the past week but officials say the deaths are unrelated. Three inmates have died since Thursday at the South Mississippi Correctional Institution in Leakesville. 57-year-old Albert McGee died Thursday. He was serving a life sentence for a murder in Jackson County. 36-year-old Willie Hollinghead died Saturday. He was serving 10 years for selling cocaine in Wayne County and 70-old Jack Glisson, serving a life sentence for a murder in Jones County, died Sunday. Meanwhile, 38-year-old Robert Joseph died Sunday at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Pearl while serving a three-year sentence for drug possession in Harrison County and 66-year-old Charles McCullough died Saturday at Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman. He was convicted on charges in Pike County.
