Fighting Okra Big Band to Have Benefit

(Cleveland, MS) — If you long for the days before chivalry died, when men pulled out chairs and opened doors, when ladies wore dresses every day and people dressed for dinner, the Fighting Okra Band wants to take you back on February 26th. Led by Bret Pimentel, the band will play tunes from Dorsey, Ellington, Bassie and Miller at the Cleveland Country Club to benefit Delta State’s jazz-related activities at their “Big Band Bash” dinner dance event. Seating and supper orders start at 6:30 and the Big Band entertainment will start at 7:30 p.m. Prizes will be given to the best dancers, best costumes and more. Dress is optional black tie. Tickets are $20 per person, $5 for DSU students.
