Fall Garage Cleaning Leads To Pipe Bomb Discovery

MADISON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Local police, fire, and federal investigators are looking into Monday’s discovery of explosives at a home in Madison. A woman cleaning out her garage found what appeared to be pipe bombs. The woman put the devices in a Styrofoam cooler and left them there for two days before moving them to the kitchen and calling a family friend, who contacted police. She and her neighbors were evacuated and the devices were safely destroyed in the home’s front yard. The woman said she believes her late husband’s physical and mental ailments may have led him to make the bombs, saying he was ex-military and suffered from cancer and post-traumatic stress disorder.
