Environmental site assessment work has been completed on 20 sites in Greenville

City officials say four of those properties identified as potential Brownfields have undergone soil and groundwater sampling in the second phase of evaluations. The city received a grant to identify local brownfield sites, where its determined cleanup of contaminated areas could lead to the future expansion, redevelopment or reuse of the land resulting in benefits such as new jobs or an increase in the local tax base.
