Crashed Plane’s Engine Sounded Fine Before Crash

OXFORD, MS (Ben Caxton) — A preliminary report issued this week by the National Transportation Safety Board says a witness heard no unusual sounds from the engine of a small airplane just before the plane crashed onto a golf course near Oxford. The 18-year-old pilot, Lake Little of Starkville, died of injuries from the July 6th crash. An operator at University-Oxford Airport told investigators Little sounded “panicked” approaching a runway; the Cessna 172 was registered to the Mississippi Civil Air Patrol. Little received a student pilot certificate in August 2017.
