Contraband Discovered in Prison Delivery

(Parchman, MS) — Officials unexpectedly uncovered contraband under a crate of meat delivered to a state prison facility. Units at Parchman were put on lockdown and visitation, telephone and commissary privileges were suspended. Prison officials are investigating how the suspected marijuana, cell phones and other items made it into the prison. 46 cell phones and chargers, 8 packs of suspected marijuana and 4 packs of tobacco were found in the bottom of the crate of the meat. The supervisor questioned the delivery considering it had not been requested in the daily run. No charges have been filed but arrests are expected.
