Charter School Gets Ok to Buy Clarksdale Church

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Clarksdale Press-Register reports that Clarksdale Collegiate Charter School board has approved the purchase of St. Paul’s Methodist Church. The school plans to add a new 20,000 square foot building to the campus and eventually serve students from kindergarten through 8th grade. The total cost of acquisition and construction is estimated at between $7.1 and $7.8 million and the sale is expected to close in September. At last week’s meeting, the board also approved the calendar for the next school year, which will begin on July 20th to make up for lost days since distance learning began in March.
