Carlos Moore Wants $5M for Slain Oxford Woman

OXFORD, MS (Ben Caxton) — $5 million. That’s what attorney Carlos Moore believes the City of Oxford owes the family of a woman slain in bed by a former city police officer. 32-year-old Dominique Clayton was found shot in the back of the head in bed by her 8-year-old son on May 19. 38-year-old Matthew Kinne, at the time an officer with the Oxford Police was arrested the next day and charged with the crime. Relatives said Kinne and Clayton were in a romantic relationship. Moore, who is representing Clayton’s family, announced Monday he sent the letter demanding the city pay up. In it, Moore said Clayton believed she was pregnant and expressed concern to her sister that Kinne may cause her harm. Moore also claims Oxford police officers caused “undue stress” on the family by initially stating Clayton committed suicide although a gun was not found on the scene. The city released a statement via e-mail saying they were aware of the claim but would have no further comment on the matter.
