Auditor Says Greenwood Hospital In "Poor" Financial Condition

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — State Auditor Stacey Pickering says six of the 19 rural county-owned hospitals in Mississippi are in poor financial condition including three in the Delta – Greenwood Leflore hospital, Tallahatchie General, and North Sunflower Medical Center. Pickering’s report evaluates hospitals finances during the state budget year that ended in June 2016 and says communities can be hit hard when hospitals close as lack of a hospital and emergency services can make economic development more difficult.
