Another 129 Fred’s Stores Closing

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — Fred’s is closing another 129 stores including locations in Belzoni, Clarksdale, Marks, Tunica, and Greenwood. The company sold its Memphis headquarters building last week and has already closed 263 stores this year. After the closures, Fred’s will have about 80 retail stores left, clustered around their Dublin, Georgia distribution center. All pharmacies, including those in the closed stores, will remain open and continue to fill subscriptions until the pharmacies are sold. Fred’s says they will also be closing stores in Dumas, Lake Village, Star City, Warren, West Helena, and Pine Bluff in southeast Arkansas, and East Monroe in Northeast Louisiana.
