A wildlife alert has been issued by State authorities

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks announced that flooding from heavy rains will displace many deer and other wildlife from their normal habitat. As these animals move onto adjacent lands this could complicate food sources. Supplemental feeding is not recommended in areas that will be inundated with floodwater. Private landowners near these areas may utilize supplemental feeding as permitted by law, rule, or regulation. It is illegal to pour, pile, or place any supplemental feed directly on the ground. No person shall attempt to take, catch or kill any wild bird or wild animal (except waterfowl) within specific areas along the Mississippi River during this unusual flooding. Specific levels for specific areas can be found online at mdwfp.com. Expect increased law enforcement in these affected areas.
