$2500 Reward For 16-Year-Old `Person Of Interest`

BATESVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — A $2,500 reward is being offered for the arrest and conviction of a juvenile suspect in the early March shooting death of Roary Ledell Thomas in Batesville. 16-year-old Cordarius Strong has been named “a person of interest” following the shooting that killed Thomas by Batesville Police Chief Jimmy McCloud and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms who announced the reward money Thursday. Authorities were called to Bradford Street in Batesville at mid-afternoon March 2 where they found Thomas, 33, dead in a parked car where he had been shot. Information provided by neighbors and witnesses led to the arrest of 18-year-old Nakia Lamar the following night who was charged with capital murder. Strong is described as a slightly built man, about 5′ 3″ and 153 pounds. Anyone with information that would lead to the arrest and conviction is urged to contact the Batesville Police Department, the Panola County Sheriff’s Department, or Crimestoppers at 800-729-2169.
