$17M Sewer Sticker Shock In Greenville

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Greenville may be facing a costly and unexpected sewer bill. The Environmental Protection Agency has mandated the city fix sanitary sewer overflows in the city’s system, and the city contracted with W.L. Burle Engineering to make the repairs. But the company told the city’s Public Works Committee this week that after work began crews discovered major problems with the pump stations and at the sewage treatment plant itself that the company estimates will cost nearly $17M to repair.
