13 Mississippi Fire Departments Getting Federal Gift

WASHINGTON, DC (Ben Caxton) — Over $5 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency funding is going to 13 fire departments in Mississippi. Jackson will receive $3.4 million and Canton will get $883,782 to hire firefighters; the Walls Volunteer Fire Department will receive $163,000 for operations and safety equipment. The grants were awarded following a competitive process and were announced this week by Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith.
