Wreath Laying Ceremony Honors Crash Victims

ITTA BENA, MS (Ben Caxton) — A wreath-laying ceremony was held Wednesday for victims of the Marine Corps plane crash near Itta Bena. 15 Marines and one Navy Corpsman lost their lives when their C-130 Hercules aircraft crashed in a bean field along U.S. Highway 82 last summer. Yesterday the Yankee 72 Memorial Committee placed 16 wreaths at the monument in remembrance of each lost life. Chairman of the group, Clifton Addison told local television stations in Greenville that the ceremony was an effort to let families of the fallen soldiers know that people care about them, and to help brighten their Holidays.
