Woman Dies After Just Three Days In Jail

Chicot Memorial

ALCORN COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — A woman being held on shoplifting charges died after spending three days in a Mississippi jail. 29-year old Bridget Marlar died last week at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. Alcorn (ALL-corn) County jail employees performed CPR on her after she was found unresponsive in her cell on August 27th. An autopsy shows Marlar died of cardiopulmonary arrest and there was no evidence of foul play. Toxicology tests could take several weeks; the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is handling the case, which is standard practice in jail deaths.
