Wheelchair-bound Pedestrian Killed in Greenville

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — A wheelchair-bound pedestrian was killed in a traffic accident in Greenville on Tuesday. Police were called to Highway 1 and Abide Road around 7:00 PM where they say they found a 67-year-old white male in a wheelchair who had been struck by a 2008 Chevy Malibu. The driver of the vehicle told police they were driving south on Highway 1 when the accident occurred. Emergency medical personnel arrived and attempted life-saving techniques but were unsuccessful. The Washington County Coroner was dispatched and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
