MISSISSIPPI (Ben Caxton) — Two people have died from West Nile virus in Mississippi this year, matching last year’s death toll. The deaths in Forrest County and Humphreys County bring the number of confirmed cases of the mosquito-borne illness this year to 36. Three weeks ago the state Health Department attributed a Grenada County death to the disease but now says it cannot confirm it was caused by West Nile.
