Warren Bookkeeper Pleads Guilty to Embezzlement Charges

WARREN COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — A former bookkeeper for Warren County has pleaded guilty to embezzlement and was sentenced to eight years in prison. Paula Hunt has also been ordered to repay more than $140,000 to the county’s tax collector’s office where she worked. Special agents from the state auditor’s office arrested Hunt in May. Authorities say she collected cash payments from people paying bills and transferred money between multiple office bank accounts. The scheme was discovered when one of the accounts she manipulated was overdrawn.
