Vicksburg Police Say Armed Robbery An Inside Job

VICKSBURG, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Sunday armed robbery at a local Dollar General happened with inside help according to Vicksburg authorities. Police have arrested a store employee and a man who they say conspired to rob the discount store at gunpoint. Police said the store on the 2200 block of Clay Street was robbed on Sunday evening as the manager and store clerk were closing. A masked gunman came in through a broken window that had been boarded up with plywood. He pried open the boards to gain entry into the store, police said. The gunman had a handgun and demanded money from the registers before forcing the manager to open the safe. The gunman then ran away with an unknown amount of money. Vicksburg police have arrested 18-year-old Willie Montrell Clark, and 24-year-old Shera Shontrell White in connection with the robbery. Police said White was a cashier at the Dollar General and claim that she conspired with Clark to rob the store based on surveillance video from the store and from tips from the community.
